Bobby Herodes, Head Coach and Academy Director

Bobby coached the Marist College men's soccer team for 11 years. During that time, he made, 5 MAAC Final Four appearances, 3 MAAC Championships, 3 NCAA Div. 1 Tournaments, 2 times MAAC Coach of the Year, . Prior to his arrival at Marist, Herodes was the head coach for two years at Iona. Herodes has been named MAAC Coach of the Year twice. Herodes played his college soccer at SUNY Morrisville and SUNY Oneonta. In 1984, he captained a Morrisville squad that advanced to the National Tournament. That same year, he was drafted by the Louisville Thunder of the American Indoor Soccer League.



Jim Cancellaro, Coach

Jim has coached youth soccer for 25 years. He has coached boys and girls teams, from U11 thru U19. Jim's personal goals are to help players develop in their technique and tactics of soccer. To give them the knowledge and understanding necessary to fully appreciate the beauty of the game of soccer. To instill a competitive spirit which will help them to get the optimum reward out of their soccer experience. To help players reach their individual and team goals through teaching and positive reinforcement. Jim has led teams to seven EHYSL division 1 championships, 1995 State Cup Open finalist, 2000 State Cup Challenge champions, and numerous tournament championships at the state and region level. Jim holds USSF "D" & "F" Licenses and the USYSA Under-12 Certification. For his twenty plus years of dedicated service to youth soccer in the Hudson Valley, Jim was elected to the East Hudson Youth Soccer Hall of Fame.


George Dianni - Coach

Dianni has been the assistant men's soccer coach at Marist for the last 10 seasons.. Dianni was recognized as one of the Top 10 athletes on Dutchess County's All-Time Scoring list while playing at Arlington High School. A 1987 graduate of Ithaca College, Dianni held the freshman scoring record of nine goals and six assists and was named team captain in his senior year. He was also named as an All-New York State selection in 1987. Prior to Marist, Dianni was an assistant coach for four years at Arlington High School.


Nate Gibboney - Assistant Coach

Nate Gibboney begins his first season as the assistant men's soccer coach. Gibboney had previously been the assistant coach at Westminster College, in New Wilmington, PA. The Huntingdon, PA native recently finished a two year stint at Westminster College, where he earned his Masters Degree in Education.

At Westminster, Gibboney helped coach the Titans to a fourth place Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) showing in 2005, while leading the 2006 squad to a PAC Tournament championship and eventual ECAC Tournament appearance.
Gibboney brings a wealth of coaching experience from working various well known and respected soccer camps. In addition to serving as the Assistant Director of Westminster Soccer Camps, Gibboney worked at the West Point and Bucknell Soccer Camps over the past few summers, coaching some of the finest up-and-coming soccer talent in the Northeast.
In the past three years, Gibboney has attended the NSCAA convention in Philadelphia and Baltimore, and received both his regional and advanced regional coaching licenses.
As a four year starter for his alma mater, Susquehanna University, Gibboney served as captain for both his junior and senior seasons. In 2004, he was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year and was named All Middle Atlantic Conference.

Gibboney received his B.S. in Business Administration from Susquehanna University and his M. Ed. In education from Westminster College.



Scott Grimes, Assisant Coach

Scott is the Head Boy's Coach at Ketcham High School in Wappingers, NY. He has lead his team to two state final four finishes in the last four years. He is a 1985 graduate of Arlington High School and 1990 graduate of SUNY Albany where he played on the soccer teams of both schools.


Andy Jennings, Coach

Andy is head coach of the Vassar College men's soccer team. Jennings has compiled a 123-79-27 record and transformed Vassar into one of the Northeast region's premier teams, capturing two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference regional championships, appearing in seven ECAC playoff championships, and winning three Suburban Conference titles. Jennings, a qualified Football Association coach, has directed numerous soccer camps, has worked with both the United States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and continues to be involved in youth soccer in the mid-Hudson valley. During his playing days, he played semi-professionally in England and also represented England Universities. In 2001-02, Jennings, while on sabbatical, gained invaluable experience with the England Under-17 national team and the Bristol City Football Club Academy program.

 


Gary Montalto, Coach

Gary has coached the Arlington High School Boys Varisity team since 1979 with over 400 wins and four New York State final appearances and 3 state titles. In 2006, Gary was named the National High School Coach of the year. Gary holds a USSF "C" License and a NSCAA National Diploma. He was a Eastern New York State ODP coach for four years. Gary is the NSCA Regional Chairman for High School Boys rankings and Coach of the Year committees. He is also the Section 1 chairman for New York State High School Boys Soccer.



Jay Myers, Coach

Coach Myers is the Bard College Head Women’s Soccer Coach, and achieved a spot as a Semi-Finalist in league play in his first year as the head Coach. Before Bard College he held the position as Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach at Marist College where he was also an assistant coach for two years. Myers was Bard's Assistant Women's Soccer Coach from 2001-2003.

As an Associate Staff Member of the NSCAA he instructs the NSCAA State, Regional, Advanced Regional Diplomas, he also currently holds his National, Advanced National, Premier and Advanced Goalkeeping I Diplomas. He is the current Director of Coaching and Training for the Poughkeepsie Soccer Club and coaches the Middle Path FC BU-16 and BU-19/U23 Premier Teams. In 2005 the BU19 as a BU17 team were Semi-Finalists in the NY State Cup.

Myers is a member of the New York State ODP Staff. Formally the East Hudson Select BU15/16 Coach from 2003-2006. Additionally, Coach Myers is the Coach of the Hudson Valley Boys and Girls Scholastic Division Hudson Valley Empire State Games Team. The ESG Girls Team achieved the Bronze Medal in 2005. Coach Myers is a graduate of Marist College where he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Cheryl Price, Coach

Coach Price is a blossoming young coach with a lot of experience behind her. Coach Price holds a USSF D License, NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma, as she is in pursuit of her National Diploma and an NSCAA Advanced Goalkeeping I Diploma. Before coming to MPFC, Price was the Head Coach of the very successful ODP League GU11/12 for two years. She was the Ketcham Varsity Girls Soccer Assistant Coach for two years as well as Our Lady Of Lords High School for two years as well. She also spent two years as the Our Lady Of Lords High School Junior Varsity Head Coach.

 


Elizabeth Roper, Coach

Elizabeth Roper began 2005 season as the head women's soccer coach at Marist. Roper was previously the head coach at Saint Peter's College for two seasons. Prior to Saint Peter’s College, Roper was the head coach at Caldwell College (Caldwell, N.J.) for three seasons, overseeing the transition of the program from NAIA to its present NCAA Division II status. In her final season at Caldwell, Roper's squad had the most improved team in the conference and competed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament. A 1989 graduate of Fordham, Roper served as an assistant coach for the Rams during the 1994, 1995, 1998 and 1999 seasons, competing in the Patriot League and Atlantic 10 Conference.

Roper was formerly the Co-Girls Director of the NJ Rangers Club program, coaching under-17 and under-18 Girls Premier soccer teams. She has also coached the NJ Dynamo and NJ United Select soccer teams and was recently appointed as a girls north ODP coach.

Roper's playing days began in her youth with the establishment of the North Rockland Soccer Association. She continued playing in high school, on North Rockland's first girls' team. At Fordham, Roper was instrumental in establishing the first intercollegiate women's club team at the University, which was eventually granted Division I status in 1993.

Roper graduated from Fordham with a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's in education. She holds an NSCAA National Diploma, Goalkeeping I and II Diplomas and USSF "D" License.


Matthew Slaats, Assistant Coach

Matthew Slaats recently joined Middlepath FC after relocating to the Hudson Valley from Madison, WI. In Wisconsin he coached with the Madison 56ers Soccer Club at the U-12, 13, and 14 level with teams competing in the Midwest Regional League, Super Y League, and at the State Cup finals. Previously, he held the position of Goalkeeper Coach for the University of Evansville Women's Soccer Team, helping them reach the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. As a player, he played with the University of Evansville Men's Soccer team and took his high school team to two WI State Tournaments. He hold a USSF National "C" License.

 


Andy Stamper, BU10 Assistant Coach

Andy holds a NSCAA National Diploma and has coached developmental youth soccer for over 5 years. He has been involved with soccer for over 30 years playing as a youth up through adulthood. His primary goal as a coach is to train and develop his player’s technical and tactical knowledge to get them to the next level of play as well as instill in them the same passion and enjoyment he has for the game.


Devon Tomson, BU18 Assistant Coach,
Middlepath FC Tournament Director

Coach Devon Tomson is a graduate of Springfield College where he achieved his BA in Physical Education. Tomson was a three year starter with the Men’s Soccer Team and Captioned the team from his second year on! Coach Tomson is the Bard College Associate Head Men’s Soccer Coach. Tomson has been on staff at Bard College as the Assistant Men and Women’s Soccer Coach since 2005.

Coach Tomson holds an NSCAA National Diploma and is on Staff with ENY ODP. Tomson is on Staff with the Empire State Games, Hudson Valley Region Men’s and Women’s Scholastic Soccer Teams and a Silver Medalist with the Women’s in 2007. Coach Tomson also works at Red Hook Central Schools and is the Assistant Girls Varsity Coach and helped lead the team to the Regional Round of the State Tournament in 2006 as well as a Sectional Title in 2007. Coach is also the Head Instructor for Bard College Soccer Camps as well as Corver Coaching of Eastern NY.


Kristen Turner, GU17 Assistant Coach

Turner, a native to Wappingers Falls , has recently come to the Middlepath FC as a coach. She graduated from Siena College in 2007 and had an accredited playing career as a forward. Turner, the 2006 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, tallied an impressive 35 goals over her four seasons with the program. This milestone proves to be the most goals scored by an individual in Siena soccer history. Kristen, a four year starter, helped lead the Saints into the MAAC Championship game for just the second time in program history. For her efforts, Turner was named to the 2006 All-Northeast Region Third Team.

Kristen was a former Yorktown Jaguar player. She competed with the Jaguars for 3 years helping to earn them a regional title. During her time with the Jaguars they were able to win many competitive tournaments. They were also State Cup Finalist. She is a graduate of John Jay High School where she played soccer for the high school for 5 years. She helped lead the team to many section championships earning many accolades along the way. She was named Poughkeepsie Journal Player of the Year in 2002.


Bobby Van Dyke, Coach

Bobby is entering his second season as assistant men's coach Marist College. He graduated from Marist in 2006 after starting at midfield for the Marist College soccer team for several years. During his time at Marist Bobby earned All-MAAC honors and lead Marist to two MAAC Conference Championships and the NCAA Division I Mens National Champioship Tournament in 2004 and 2005. He has extensive international playing experience. Prior to coming to Marist, Bobby was on the Maryland Olympic Development Program team (1998-2000) and a member of the Maryland State MIAA soccer champions in 1998-99. From 1995 to 1998, he was the leading scorer for the Italian league (Naples) champion Nuovo Flegrea SC. In 1995, he was one of sixteen U-13 select players in the US chosen by former Manchester United professional Clive Griffths to compete in three internationals: Harrlem Cup (Netherlands), Cowell Cup (Scotland) and Ian Rush Tournament (Wales). Bobby currently holds a USSF “D” License.


Matt Viggiano, Coach

Matt Viggiano is the head men's coach at Marist College. Matt
played for the Marist Red Foxes from 1996-1998 and was a two-year starter and team captain. While at Marist he began his coaching career serving under former Coach Bobby Herodes and helped to form the nucleus of the first Marist team to qualify for the NCAA tournament.

He then served as the assistant coach and head junior varsity coach at Elmira College from 1999-2000 before taking the reigns as Head Coach at Marywood University from 2000-2002.

Viggiano returned to Marist following the fall 2002 campaign and served as an assistant until the summer of 2005. During his time the men's squad went to two conference final fours and once again qualified for the NCAA tournament.

He left again to skipper a transitional period into the NCAA for SUNY Purchase for a season, and then spent the fall 2006 campaign at MAAC rival Iona helping guide them to their best finish in nearly a decade. The Mamaroneck N.Y. native holds National and Advanced National diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and has coached extensively at the club level in addition to his experience with the Olympic Development program.

Viggiano began his collegiate playing career at the University at Albany where as a freshman starter he spearheaded the Great Danes to a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA tournament. His playing experience includes stints in the Semi-Professional Cosmopolitan League as well as being an eight time member of the Hudson Valley's men's soccer team at the Empire State Games, where his squads have taken home two gold medals along with two silvers and two bronze.


Jason Weisberg, Coach

Jason Weisberg joined the Iona College women's soccer program as an assistant coach during the 2006 season.

Weisberg comes to New Rochelle after serving as the assistant coach of the Division I Manhattan College men's soccer program. He was previously at Division II Dominican College, where he was an assistant from 2002 to 2004 and helped the team to the CACC Conference Championship in 2002. Dominican reached the CACC semi-finals in 2003 and were Conference champions again in 2004.

Weisberg is a member of the Region 1 ODP coaching staff and has also been on the staff for the ENYYSA Olympic Development (ODP) Program as a head coach since 2002 working on both the boys' and girls' sides.

He has been a head coach with the Middlepath/Yorktown FC Jaguars, NY girls' premier soccer club for six years, preparing them to play collegiate soccer at the highest levels. Weisberg has also coached teams in the Super Y League and the has coached the Women's Open Team for Hudson Valley in the Empire State Games since 2002 as well as coaching with many youth clubs in the Westchester area.

Weisberg holds a USSF "B" license and an NSCAA Premier Diploma which he did in Curitiba, Brazil in May 2005 as it was the first U.S. coaching course ever given in Brazil. Weisberg recently was a part of another soccer first, when he received the NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma (DOC) in Oct. 2005. This is the first DOC course ever given in the United States.

He played his collegiate soccer at Stony Brook University and had a stint with the Westchester Flames PDL. Weisberg graduated from Stony Brook in 1997 with a B.A. in psychology and and holds a Masters degree in counseling Psychology from PACE University. Weisberg and his wife, Jill, currently reside in New Rochelle, NY.


Chuck Wilder, Coach

Coach Wilder is well known in the Hudson Valley soccer circles as his playing and coaching experiences are extensive. As a player, Wilder played Professionally as a goalkeeper in the U.S.I.S.L with the Tucson Amigos, Albany Alleycats, and also in the "A"-League with The New York Fever.

His coaching resume includes Dutchess Community College, Suny Purchase College (division 3), Dominican College (division 2), and Bard College (division 3). As well as serving as Head coach at Purchase, Wilder has specialized as the Colleges goalkeeping coach. Coach Wilder is also the ODP Goalkeeping coach for the girls as well as the Head Goalkeeping trainer for the boys and girls at MiddlePath. Wilder also has coached the Hudson Valley Empire State Scholastic boys soccer team over the past eight seasons as well as coaching numerous youth teams, Middle School, and High School soccer in his career which spans 22 years, Wilder brings a strong technical background in instruction and knowledge to our club.
